Although we did not have many positive things to say about this nursing home's overall grade, it did receive a respectable inspection report this year. It received a decent grade in that category with a B-. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of C in the area. Our nursing score is primarily tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 2.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, although this place got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this subcategory.

This facility received its next highest category grade in the category of long-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of C in this category, which is a decent score. With our long-term care rating, we look at the sheer volume of care provided by a facility, as well as a handful of quality metrics. After considering the amount of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. We were pleased to find that this nursing home vaccinated 99.23077 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Unfortunately, its hospitalization rate was less impressive. We found that this nursing home had 2.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.

The next area we assessed was short-term care, which turned out to be this facility's worst category. We gave this facility a grade of D in this category. With our short-term care grade, we strive to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final metric we looked at in this area is the number of patients that returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 32.6 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.
