Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its nearly flawless inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility received its next best category grade in the area of long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of C in this category, which is an acceptable score. Long-term care grades assess a facility's assistance with daily living rather than the skilled nursing or healthcare services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. After looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated 84.13174 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is quite a bit below average. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. We scrutinized the licensure of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours the nurses worked with residents, in calculating our rating in this category. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, although this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this area.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we graded is short-term care. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this category, which is an abysmal grade. This is obviously a significant concern. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This area is more often than not a meaningful measure of a facility's rehabilitation. Considering its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this facility was well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
