Facility Inspections
B-
Historical
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
D
Historical
Sadly, this nursing home's second best category was long-term care. However, with a D in this area, it still performed somewhat poorly. Facilities that don't fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 85.14493 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.94 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
F
Historical
In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. Our nursing score is mostly associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averaged a meager 1.8 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This place was above average in two of the areas we considered, with solid marks for avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
F
Historical
The final category we graded is short-term care, where this nursing home received a very poor score in this area as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to measure a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. With its score in this area, we were not surprised to find that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
