Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 7.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

This facility also was dominant in the area of long-term care, where it received a score of A. Not many facilities fared better in this category. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. It doesn't look like this nursing home submitted information about vaccinations. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Finally, we found that this facility has received favorable government inspections in recent years. We gave it a grade of B in this category. Inspection grades are tied to many data points found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
