Short-term Care Quality
On top of performing well in its overall grade, this facility earned an excellent short-term care grade. We gave it an A in that area. In calculating our short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is more often than not a meaningful measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this facility. It outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the country in this area with 62 percent of its patients returning home. This is a much better rate than most facilities.
Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Nursing ratings are primarily associated with the facility's nurse staffing. With 4.1 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, this place surpassed the vast majority of facilities. Finally, this place also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In terms of the number of its patients sustaining falls leading to major injury, this facility performed as well as any facility in the nation.
Facility Inspections
This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Inspection ratings account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this area tend to have few severe deficiencies. While this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few relatively minor dings are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we graded was long-term care, where this facility received a B-. This actually turned out to be this facility's least impressive area. This is nevertheless not a bad grade. In forming our long-term care scores, we quantify the nursing home's personal care services. After looking at the impressive nursing hours and other staffing provided by this nursing home, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.2126 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than many nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.09 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
