In addition, this facility also was given favorable short-term care scores in our assessment. Indeed, we gave them one of our stronger scores in that area, with a score of B+. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This category is typically a useful assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. We weren't able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final measure we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Turning to another of this nursing home's strengths, it also earned a very impressive inspection rating. This proved to be one of its best category grades. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an impressive grade of B+. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to our next area, this facility was awarded an acceptable nursing grade of C. In computing our nursing scores, we factor in both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is far below average. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
