Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall score, this facility also earned an A+ inspection grade. This grade is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the best complements we can pay to a nursing home. Our inspection scores are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong assessment, this nursing home also was awarded an excellent long-term care score, with a grade of A. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in this category typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are well cared for. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a dangerous ailment for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. Our nursing score focuses on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of the nurses and the quantity of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning residents more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category we rated, this nursing home was awarded an impressive grade grade of B+ in our short-term care category. With this score, the nursing home completed an elite report card. Our short-term care scores are critical for people in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 4.9 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
