Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be relatively insignificant. While this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.
Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. When calculating our nursing scores, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility is also above average in the category of long-term care, where it was given a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this area. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a dangerous health condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was short-term care. This nursing home received a very good short-term care rating this year, with a C. While this was not nearly as strong as several of its other scores, this remains a decent grade for that category. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that returned home from this facility. We found that 3.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.
