Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We awarded this nursing home an A+ for our long-term care grade. This grade is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 96.666664 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a strong grade in our nursing category. We awarded this nursing home an above average grade of B+ in this area. In calculating a nursing home's nursing grade, we look at the number of hours nurses spend with residents as well as the levels of training of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this nursing home's higher category grades was in the category of short-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. In forming these short-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to devise a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last measure we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Moving on our final category of inspections, this facility received an F here. This score was detrimental to this facility's overall grade. When a place has this bad of an inspection rating, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This facility had a category J or K deficiency, which are among the worst deficiencies. This generally means that inspectors uncovered a deficiency which puts patient safety or health in imminent danger. Finally, we also would like to point out that this place was assessed large government fines in recent years of over $100,000. This usually indicates that a nursing home's poor track record spanned several years.
