Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility's nursing rating was more impressive than its overall grade. Due to a strong performance in this category, it received a quality score in nursing with a B+. Our nursing grade analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of skill of those nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Additionally, we gave this nursing home a B in our short-term care category. This is one of our more impressive grades. In our short-term care rating, we try to craft a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also was given a positive long-term care grade. Indeed, we gave it a grade of B in that area, which is one of our more favorable scores. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 94.64285 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

The final category we looked at was inspections. This did not end up being one of this facility's stronger areas. We gave it a score of D in this area. Since this data is collected by government inspectors, we tend to take this one very seriously. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This particular nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they created a threat to resident health or safety. Lastly, we also would like to point out that this place was assessed significant government fines in recent years amounting to over $100,000. This often signifies that a bad performance has been an issue for several years.
