Facility Inspections
We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in that category with a grade of A+. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we awarded this facility a B in our long-term care category. This is one of our higher scores. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 74.01961 percent of its patients. This is a few points lower than we anticipated. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, at least this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of C. The nursing grade is based on several factors, most of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. It performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's weakest category is short-term care, which is the last area we scored. In this category, we gave this facility a D. In our short-term care score, we attempt to create a valuable measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home offers less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.7 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.
