This nursing home earned a strong overall grade as described above, but we especially wanted to point out its excellent nursing score. We gave them an A in this category. There are a host of datapoints within this area. Most of the factors reflect nurse staffing. This nursing home provides an impressive 3.9 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Finally, this place was also above average in each of the major quality-based metrics we assessed in this category. It performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

This nursing home is also above average in the area of short-term care, where it was given a score of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Our short-term care scores are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. One of this nursing home's strength is that it offers more hours of care from registered nurses to its residents. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 42.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

This facility received a very good government inspection report this year as well. It earned one of our better grades in that area with a B. Arguably the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

The last area we analyzed was long-term care, which proved to be this nursing home's weakest category. We gave this nursing home a D in that area. Unfortunately, this grade hurt the nursing home's overall grade to some degree. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category likely don't provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes provide. This nursing home's vaccination statistics weren't as strong as its number of nursing hours per resident. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 86.87872 percent of its residents. We would love to see some improvement herein this statistic next year. To our surprise, this facility wasn't as bad as we expected at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Although it had 2.21 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score wasn't bad since it had more complex patients.
