Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our long-term care rating. In the category of long-term care, we look at the quantity of services provided by a facility, as opposed to more healthcare-oriented services. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. We were concerned by the fact that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 76.267 percent of its residents for pneumonia. The last datapoint we assessed was its hospitalization rate. Here we found that this nursing home had 1.84 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is also slightly below average.

This nursing home didn't receive favorable inspection reports in recent years. In fact, it received a grade of just D for its inspection grade, which was unfortunately its second best category. Inspection grades weigh many items found on the facility's recent inspection reports. If you see too many deficiencies on the inspection reports, this is typically a bad sign. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This particular nursing home had 7 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility also received 7 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. The nursing rating is based on many datapoints, many of which are associated with nursing hours. With just 3.2 hours of nursing care per resident daily, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were well below the national average. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place was above average in two of the statistics we focus on, with solid scores for avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. These metrics are generally good measures of the quality of nursing care provided.

Switching gears to the next area, this facility didn't perform well in this category either. Due to a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 25.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics was damning for this nursing home's short-term care grade.

This datapoint measures the percent of long-term patients which were administered antipsychotic drugs.
