Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While this facility's overall score was not a highlight, it did receive a very good score in the area of inspections. In fact, we gave it a grade of B+ for that area, which is one of our better scores. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid facilities that have a long list of severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's second most favorable area was long-term care. We awarded it a B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the road score in this area. In computing these long-term care grades, we assess the facility's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We discovered that this nursing home vaccinated just 90.41731 percent of its residents, which is somewhat concerning. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. We scrutinized the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses spent with residents, in computing our grade in this category. With a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, this facility's nurse staffing levels were significantly below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This place fared well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last area we scored was short-term care. We gave it an abysmal F for this area, which is a rock bottom grade. Our short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. As you might expect, we found that this nursing home offers substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than a typical facility. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.9 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below average.
