Long-term Care Quality
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to note its relatively favorable long-term care rating this year. We gave it a grade of B+ in this area. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 72.67081 percent of its patients. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
Shockingly, this facility actually earned a good score in the area of inspections as well. We gave it a B for that category, which is one of our better scores. Not many nursing homes that were this poor overall received multiple category grades of this caliber. Our inspection scores are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. Nursing ratings are tied to nurse staffing levels. With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were far below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these datapoints to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we graded was short-term care, where this nursing home received a rock bottom score here also. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this area, which is obviously a major disappointment. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to judge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Considering its grade in this category, we weren't stunned to find that this place was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
