Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
Remarkably, we awarded this facility a grade of B- for our short-term care rating, which is not too bad of a score. In the category of short-term care, we strive to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The question is whether this also affected quality of care. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Our nursing category analyzes many subcategories, many of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This place averaged just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we rated is long-term care, in which this nursing home received a bottom of the barrel score here as well. We gave it an F in this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After we finished assessing the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. We were optimistic to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 97.91667 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
