Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We want to point out that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest scores in this area with a grade of A+. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we still had a generally favorable view of this nursing home's recent inspections.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home was awarded its second best category grade in the area of long-term care. We gave this facility a grade of B- in this category, which is a reasonably acceptable grade. Our long-term care scores are vital for patients looking for non-healthcare services such as personal care. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.23858 percent of its residents, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. This nursing home keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home wound up receiving a a terrible score in our short-term care area. It was given a lowly F in this area. Short-term care scores are crucial for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home's worst category was nursing, which is the last category we looked at. We gave it an abysmal F in this category. Despite multiple decent grades in other categories, this score is nevertheless alarming so we would like to to make a note of it. We analyzed the qualifications of nurses employed by the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours the nurses worked with residents, in computing our grade in this area. This place averaged only 0 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
