Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We want to point out that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest grades in this category with an A+. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor dings are not something to panic about.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also received an impressive long-term care grade. As a matter of fact, we gave them a grade of B+ in that category, which happens to be one of our better. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 98.02631 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is often a dangerous health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home does not take any chances. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. In calculating our nursing ratings, we weigh both nursing hours and the training levels of the nurses. This place provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Turning to the last category, this facility didn't perform well. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is this nursing home's poorest category. Our short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. It looks like this nursing home was subpar in the two key staffing metrics we assessed. In fact, it offered fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
