Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this nursing home a poor overall grade, we awarded it a fairly respectable grade in the area of inspections, where we gave it a B-. This was better than its other category grades. We believe that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of B-. Our nursing score is largely associated with the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's third highest category ended up being short-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B-. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than a typical facility. The hope is that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Switching gears to our last category, we awarded this facility a grade of D in our long-term care category. This was the nursing home's weakest category rating. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care likely don't provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities offer. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this facility vaccinated just 89.788734 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
