This nursing home received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent government inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A in this category. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

One of this nursing home's better category scores came in the area of short-term care. This ended up being its second best category. In that area, we awarded this facility a B-. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with a score of D. Our nursing score is based on quite a few factors, however, the main one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This number is well below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This facility performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

The final category we scored is long-term care, which turned out to be this facility's worst area. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this area, which is clearly a major concern. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 83.64312 percent of its patients. This is many points below what we expected. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
