Nurse Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ for nursing. In computing our nursing grades, we assess both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of turning patients even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to its high-end resume, this facility also was given an excellent short-term care grade, with a score of A. Short-term care grades are typically employed to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To have highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections
Another impressive feature of this facility is its inspection grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area usually have very few severe deficiencies. While this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few relatively minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we scored was long-term care, where this facility received a grade of C. This was this facility's least impressive category. This is nevertheless not a terrible score. In calculating our long-term care ratings, we scrutinize the personal care offered to the nursing home's patients. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. This nursing home also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
