Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

In addition to receiving a poor overall grade, we also gave this place weak scores in the various categories. In fact, it received a grade of just D for its short-term care grade, which was its best category. In the category of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. With a score this poor in this category, we weren't surprised to discover this nursing home was below average in several staffing areas we focus on. It supplied far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 5.1 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below the national average.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Among this nursing home's alarming category grades was an F for its inspection grade. Generally, this means we found some major red flags on its government inspection reports. We would advise paying special attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection score. We would pay close attention to the severity of the deficiencies. This facility was assessed a category G through L deficiency, which rank among the more severe categories of deficiencies. These categories indicate that the deficiencies found by CMS had potential to pose actual harm to residents. On top of having severe deficiencies, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. The nursing score weighs quite a few components, but the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to our fourth category, this nursing home didn't perform very well in this area either. Due to a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care likely don't provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities offer. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. We were concerned by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated only 58.139538 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
