Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we didn't rate this facility favorably overall, we did give it an excellent score in the category of inspections, where it earned an A-. Our inspection scores are based on many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility was awarded its second best category grade in the area of short-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of B- in this area, which is a respectable score. Our short-term care grades are arguably most critical for folks in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional skilled nursing. This means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the typical facility. The last measure we considered in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. This figure was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. There are a host of criteria within this area. Many of these criteria are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below average. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we rated is long-term care, in which this facility was given an abysmal score in this category as well. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility also keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
