One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is just about as good as it gets in this critical category. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that we have deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
To add to its elite assessments in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for our long-term care rating. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. This nursing home really knocked it out of the park in this area.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning the page to our third area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for its short-term care score. This is a very impressive grade. Our short-term care scores are vital for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. This place excelled in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It offered about 50% more care from physical therapists and registered nurses than the average nursing home. This is certainly an excellent sign. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home rather than remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
In the last category we scored, this nursing home was awarded an impressive grade grade of A in our nursing category. With this score, the facility rounded out a straight A profile. Our nursing rating is mostly based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This place provides an incredible 5.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Out of this total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing high levels of care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. By way of illustration, it performed as well as any nursing home in the country in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these metrics as reliable indicators of the caliber of nursing care being provided.
