Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to performing well overall, this nursing home also earned a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that area with an A+. Inspection scores are based on datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This nursing home also received a very strong short-term care grade. This actually ended up being this facility's second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of A-. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

The next area we analyzed is long-term care. Contributing to its high-end resume, this nursing home also excelled in that area. In fact, it received a grade of of A- for that category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
