Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize that this nursing home has received near flawless inspections in recent years. We gave them an A+ in this area. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This facility also was given an A+ for its short-term care score. In determining our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is generally a useful measure of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. In determining a facility's nursing rating, we look at the number of hours nurses are with residents as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Moving on to our fourth category, this facility also performed admirably in the long-term care category. In fact, we awarded it an A in this category. This completed truly elite profile. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.83545 percent of its patients, which is higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
