Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize that this nursing home has received near flawless inspections in recent years. We gave them an A+ in this area. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also was given an A+ for its short-term care score. In determining our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is generally a useful measure of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 7.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
