Short-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall score, this facility received an A+ in the category of short-term care. In the category of short-term care, we try to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. This nursing home is above the national average both in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents. These are generally good indicators of quality short-term care. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the nation in this area with 69.4 percent of its residents returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most facilities.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received an A+ nursing grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category grades. Nursing ratings are mostly tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This place provided 4.6 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is among the higher totals in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most skilled levels of nurses. We are very impressed by both of these figures. On top of offering high levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. It performed as well as any facility in the country when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Facility Inspections
Tallying another strong category grade, this nursing home also excelled in inspections, where it received an A. Inspection scores are tied to datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we rated was long-term care. This nursing home was awarded a strong nursing score in our assessment, with a B. Even though this was not quite as strong as some of its other grades, this is nevertheless one of the more favorable scores in that area. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are well cared for. On top of really impressive nursing hour statistics, this facility's vaccination data was superb also. Indeed, this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. This combination proved to be successful as this nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Although it had 1.98 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was better than the majority of nursing homes due to it having more complicated patients.
