Short-term Care Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ short-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Our short-term care ratings are important for patients needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. This nursing home provided more physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most facilities. This is what we like to find when assessing a nursing home in this category. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. In addition to excelling in the area of physical therapy, we found that it performed as well as just about any nursing home in this area with 85.6 percent of its patients returning home.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Nursing grades are largely associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided 4.5 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This was one of the higher totals we found. Furthermore, a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. On top of providing high levels of care, this place also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In terms of the percentage of its patients suffering falls resulting in serious injury, this facility performed as well as any nursing home the country.
Facility Inspections
Racking up yet another strong category grade, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category tend to have very few severe deficiencies. We were not able to track down deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we scored was long-term care, where this facility was given an A-. This finished off a very strong report card. Few nursing homes received an A- or higher in all four categories. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are kept in good health. On top of providing well above average levels of nursing care, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.49495 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. This combination proved to be effective as this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
