Long-term Care Quality
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our long-term care grade. For patients in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 81.78808 percent of its residents. This is somewhat lower than we were hoping for but still a respectable figure. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at is short-term care. This facility was given a favorable short-term care score, with a grade of B in this area. In our short-term care score, we seek to forge a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. It doesn't look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to the fourth area, this facility received an acceptable nursing grade of C. When determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are with patients as well as the skill levels of the nurses. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, nursing scores also factor in quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Some falls could be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
