Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In addition to being a quality facility overall, this nursing home excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. Short-term care ratings are critical for people in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. Nursing grades are primarily associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This is a very respectable nursing score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are quite insignificant. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we looked at is long-term care. This nursing home was awarded a grade of B- for the area. Our long-term care ratings are crucial for prospective residents requiring non-healthcare services such as personal care. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 96.86275 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is more than the average nursing home. This place also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
