Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we gave this nursing home an abysmal overall grade, we gave it a C for our nursing rating. Our nursing rating assesses quite a few datapoints, but the primary one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is far below average. Finally, while this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared well in this subcategory.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also stunned to learn that this facility earned a decent short-term care score in our assessment. We awarded it a grade of C in that category. In forming these short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to formulate a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. We found that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. In fact, it provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 3.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
We were also stunned to learn that this facility earned a solid long-term care score in our assessment. We gave it a C in this category. Our long-term care scores are more meaningful for residents in need of more conventional services related to activities of daily living. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. This nursing home keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
In our final category of inspections, this facility received an F here. Since this data is compiled by independent government inspectors, we heavily weight poor results in this category. When a nursing home has this poor of an inspection rating, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This particular facility was assessed a deficiency by CMS. Fortunately, it wasn't in a category that suggests that it posed a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
