Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

The primary reason this facility received a decent overall score is its impeccable health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our higher grades in that area, with an A+. This is a much better grade than the place's overall score, which was decent but certainly not elite. Inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning to an additional strength for this nursing home, it also received a top-shelf long-term care score. In fact, we gave this nursing home a score of A-. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure patients are kept in good health. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 99.462364 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is better than most nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of short-term care. Our short-term care scores are vital for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires additional highly-skilled nursing. This means a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Given its grade in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we looked at. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The final category we assessed is nursing, which is this facility's least impressive area. We gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Our nursing rating assesses quite a few data points, many of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day, this facility's nurse staffing levels were far below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
