While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it did receive a very good grade in the category of inspections. In fact, we gave it a B for that category, which is one of our better scores. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid nursing homes that have too many severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

The next best category we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a B-. Short-term care grades are generally employed to judge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The more important thing is determining what bearing this had on quality of care. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Nursing ratings are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

The last category we rated was long-term care. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is an abysmal score. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated just 85.44304 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
