Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this nursing home outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our best scores in that category with an A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home was given positive short-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our more impressive grades in this category, with a B. This proved to be the nursing home's second strongest score. Short-term care ratings are crucial for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a broad spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.50249 percent of its patients. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
The final area we rated was nursing. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. This is certainly a significant disappointment. The nursing score includes a host of data points. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
