Facility Inspections
On top of being a strong nursing home overall, this place really excelled in our inspections category, where it received a grade of A+. Not many facilities performed better in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.
Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. Our nursing score is largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. With 3.9 hours of nursing care per resident per day, this nursing home was above the national average. Finally, this facility also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed as well as any nursing home the state in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, this nursing home also was awarded favorable long-term care scores in our assessment. Indeed, we awarded it one of our higher scores in that area, with a grade of B. Facilities that do well in this category typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 98.513016 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.29 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's weakest category is short-term care, which is the final category we assessed. In this category, we awarded this facility a grade of just D. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. It looks like this place was subpar in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 41.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
