In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This nursing home received impressive grades in the area of long-term care as well. As a result, it received one of our most elite scores in that area with a area of A. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to providing very impressive levels of nurse staffing, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This figure is also far better than the vast majority of nursing homes. This combination proved to be effective as this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 1.14 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a much better hospitalization rate than most nursing homes.

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. We assessed the skill-level of nurses at the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses spent with residents, in computing our rating in this area. This particular nursing home provided 4.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which was among the highest totals we found. Lastly, this place also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In terms of the number of its patients suffering falls which lead to major injury, this nursing home performed as well as any nursing home in the state.

The last area we looked at was short-term care, which turned out to be this facility's worst area. We gave this facility a D in this category. Nevertheless, we wouldn't assess this nursing home based solely on a single category, since it earned several excellent grades in other categories. Our short-term care scores are crucial for patients seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more highly-skilled nursing. This includes a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. In this nursing home's case, we found that it offered less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 10.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
