Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this place ended up being a great nursing home is it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is as good as it gets in this critical category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. Nursing scores are largely tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning a patient more often.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also fared very well in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a score of A-. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 88.297874 percent of its residents. This is slightly lower than we anticipated. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we rated is short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a solid grade of B-. This actually turned out to be this nursing home's least impressive category. In computing our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This category is more often than not a fair assessment of a facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the number of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
