Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is as good as it gets in this category. Our inspection ratings are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Nursing grades are largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning patients at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The next category we looked at was long-term care. Adding to its elite resume, this nursing home also performed well in that category. In fact, we gave it a grade of of A- in the area. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 94.57365 percent of its patients, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Turning to our last category, this nursing home also performed well in our short-term care category. We gave it a grade of B+ for this area. This wrapped up a very impressive profile. Short-term care scores are crucial for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing. This means a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
