Registered Staff Hours
In addition to being a great nursing home overall, it also received A+ health inspections recently. Its inspections were nearly flawless. Inspection scores are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Compounding its impressive achievements in other areas, we gave this facility a score of A- for its long-term care score. Facilities that excel in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 97.7492 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded an impressive short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our higher scores in that category with a grade of B+. In our short-term care score, we seek to create a fair measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
The next category we analyzed was nursing, in which this facility was given a grade of B-. This ended up being this facility's least impressive category. This is nevertheless not a poor grade. Our nursing category assesses quite a few subcategories, most of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics. While this facility got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this subcategory. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning a patient even once per day.
