Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great nursing home overall, it also received A+ health inspections recently. Its inspections were nearly flawless. Inspection scores are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. You really can't do much better than a deficiency-free inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
We also would like to alert you to the fact that this facility was awarded a superb score of A in our short-term care category. In calculating our short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to formulate a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The final metric we assessed in this category is the number of residents that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning our third area, we gave this facility a grade of A- for its long-term care score. This is a very impressive grade. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. This is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
The last category we analyzed is nursing, where this facility was given an A-. This wrapped up an elite report card. Few facilities received an A- or higher in each of our categories. Our nursing category assesses quite a few subcategories, most of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at certain nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these areas as good measures of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
