We want to point out that this facility outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest grades in this category with an A-. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. It does not look like we were able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Without having access to complete information regarding deficiencies for this facility, it is difficult to evaluate the place in this area.

Another one of this facility's more impressive category grades came in the category of long-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a B. It actually performed better than most nursing homes in this area. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. One of the datapoints we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a proven method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Moving on to the category of short-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in this category. Short-term care grades are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we discovered that this facility provides substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average nursing home. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This nursing home had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
