Registered Staff Hours
While we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B in this area, which was much better than its overall grade. Our inspection grades are based on many items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most favorable category is short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. Short-term care ratings are critical for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The critical question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a decent score in the category of long-term care, where it received a grade of C. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated just 75 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
The final area we rated is nursing, which proved to be a weak spot for this facility. We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our nursing category. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of skill of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This particular facility averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This figure is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This place performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
