Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B+ in this area, which was much better than its overall grade. Our inspection grades are based on many items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most favorable category is short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Short-term care ratings are critical for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The critical question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. There are many subcategories within this grade. Most of these criteria relate to nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we scored is long-term care, which turned out to be this facility's least impressive area. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in that area. Facilities that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were concerned by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated only 89.393936 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
