One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. The nursing grade weighs several datapoints, most of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a policy of moving a patient even once per day.

This facility's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the final category we looked at. For this area, we gave this nursing home an D. We would like to to draw your attention to this possible weak link, however, you should not focus exclusively on one bad area either. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We weren't able to track down information on vaccination rates. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
