Awards
Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
To pair with its strong overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A- for our nursing score. Our nursing score focuses on the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning residents more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home performed well in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of A- for that area, which is one of our best grades. With our short-term care rating, we seek to forge a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility is also strong in the area of long-term care, where it received a score of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this area. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 82.051285 percent of its patients. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, at least this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
In the last area we looked at, we found that this nursing home received a solid government inspection report this year as well. As a result, it earned a decent grade in our inspection category with a score of B. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
