Facility Inspections
The primary reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its impeccable health inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our higher grades in that category, with an A. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but certainly not elite. Our inspection ratings are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we still had a generally favorable view of this facility's recent inspections.
Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our long-term care score and that actually wound up as its second most favorable score. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We found that this nursing home provided the vaccine to a relatively low 73.201 percent of its patients, which is slightly concerning. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home's next best score was short-term care. However, with a D in this category, it still performed relatively poorly. In the category of short-term care, we seek to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. With its abysmal score in this area, we weren't shocked to discover this facility offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
The last category we looked at is nursing, which is a low point for this nursing home. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in our nursing category. In determining our nursing grades, we weigh both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
