Facility Inspections
The primary reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its impeccable health inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our higher grades in that category, with an A. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but certainly not elite. Our inspection ratings are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given a favorable long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a B in that area, which is one of our more favorable scores. For patients looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 66.49746 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of C. In calculating our nursing grades, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This facility averages just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our final category, this facility received a grade of C in short-term care, which is a respectable rating. Short-term care ratings are important for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 3.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
