Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also fared well in the area of long-term care, where it earned an A. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 76.38889 percent of its residents. This is a bit lower than we expected. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Our nursing rating is based on many subcategories, but the paramount consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The third category we analyzed is short-term care. Adding to its first-rate resume, this nursing home also excelled in this area. In fact, we awarded it a of A- in the area. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is frequently a useful assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we considered in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Finally, we looked at inspections. This facility received a very impressive grade in this category. In that area, we gave this facility a B+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be quite minor. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
