Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of being a strong facility overall, this facility really excelled in our inspections category, where it received an A. Not many facilities fared better in that category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's quality category grades came in the category of long-term care. We gave them one of our stronger grades in that category, with a score of B+. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 99.65398 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received an impressive short-term care grade. Indeed, we gave it an above average grade of B+ in this area. In the category of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to the last category, this nursing home was awarded a decent nursing rating. While this wasn't as elite as some of its other grades, this is truly not a bad grade. There are a number of criteria within this category. Most of these factors are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a low total compared to most nursing homes. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home actually fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
