Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home earned a short-term care score which is stronger than its overall score. We awarded this nursing home an above average grade of B+ in this category. This helped its overall profile quite a bit. Short-term care ratings are crucial for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of B+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This facility was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few relatively minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong grade in our nursing category. We awarded this nursing home an above average grade of B in this area. In determining a facility's nursing score, we consider the number of hours nurses commit to residents and the levels of training of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This facility's least impressive category was long-term care, which is the final area we looked at. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this category. Even with a few decent scores in other areas, this grade is nevertheless concerning so we felt obligated to make a note of it. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 99.55556 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is higher than most nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
